Last year, Hanley Ramirez was an unknown during many fantasy baseball drafts, and he was usually selected in the final rounds of a draft. The owners who were lucky enough to get him with a reserve pick reaped big rewards from the speedy shortstop.
Every year, there are a few rookies and young bench players that get an opportunity to showcase their talents during the season. With everyone looking for that one stolen base guy to anchor their fantasy baseball team, here are a few young players that may help put your team over the top in stolen bases:
Chris Burke HOU (OF/2B) - His poor spring could lead him to lose at-bats asLuke Scott and Jason Lane are looking for playing time as well.
Miguel Cairo NYY (2B) - If Cano suffers an injury, Cairo will get you a SB for every 15 AB.
Jerry Owens CWS (OF) - The White Sox had problems finding someone to take control of a centerfield spot in 2006, if Owens can win the job with his hot spring, he could steal 40 bases.
Chris Duffy PIT (OF) - He is having an awful spring, but if he can win a starting job, he will be god for 40 SB.
Eric Young Jr COL (2B) - Minor League Mid-Season Callup candidate.
Michael Bourn PHI (OF) - If any of the Philadelphia outfielders suffer an injury, look for Bourne to explode onto the scene.
Willie Harris ATL (OF/2B) - Atlanta's youngsters are not playing well this spring at 2B, so there is a chance that Harris could get 400 AB and 25+ stolen basesasaplatoon player.
Willie Bloomquist (OF/SS) - If he ever gets a starting job,he could steal 35+ bases, but he'll get you 15 as a super utility player.
As new candidates surface, I will update my projections and this post.
